Chameleon: Changing Colors, Changing Lives. 

I left a piece of my heart in the Philippines.

I’m in the bus on my way home and I already miss Chameleon center. I listen again and again to a record of a song I taught to the girls in which one can hear them laughing.

Ah, those laughs… ! I was not thinking when I first arrived in Passi center that I would hear so many of them! Their joy, they kindness, their smiles have moved me very deeply. I also have been amazed by their eagerness to learn. During my dance workshops, hearing them telling me « again Tita » when the music ended, was always a pinch of joy to me. From the beginning to the end of my mission I have seen some girls opening like flowers, which was one of the most beautiful things that I have witnessed.

I left a piece of my heart in the Philippines and I would love to be able to come and fetch it very soon.

It has been only fifteen days since I have arrived in Chameleon center and I have had already so many good moments with the girls and the other volunteers. My welcome party, which was very moving, was one of them!

 Girls are very friendly and call you “Tita” all the time. The other volunteers and me share our bedroom, our meals, our week-ends, our questions, our feelings… in a word, our life here!

 The purpose of my mission for Chameleon: crochet workshops. When I told my two sons about my project of leading this workshop in the Philippines, they exclaimed: “Are you crazy? Nobody will be interested!.” Yet, after two weeks, I am so happy: single crochet, double crochet, granny squares are no secret for the girls anymore. They make pocket bags, bracelets, and so on… Some of them are very talented.

 Another intense moment was the meeting with my sponsor child from the community. She took a bus early in the morning to spend the day here in the center and to take part in my crochet workshop. It was the first time we met and we were both very moved. This nice shared time together will probably lead to a new relationship! 

Chameleon Dormitory is now open and ready to accept female boarders!

Still part of Chameleon’s effort to ease-out the reintegration process of our After Care girls, the Dormitory is created partly for this purpose. But at the same time, it also forms part of Chameleon’s resource mobilization initiatives to strengthen the sustainability of the organization. 

By being a client in our Dormitory, in some ways, you contribute to the sustainability of Chameleon’s programs and services.

The Dormitory’s location is accessible to schools, hospitals, banks and other major business establishments. It is a home away from home for female students and professionals who need a place that is accessible to their study or work place. It provides standard accommodation, secured and conducive environment for temporary stay at a reasonable price.
